School Programs

Artists in Schools

Children’s Art Center’s school programs nurture students’ creative development through artistic choice-making and collaboration. Our unique methodology provides process-oriented visual arts experiences grounded in experiential and social constructivism learning principles. Our professional teaching artists nurture students’ skills in critical thinking and problem solving while fostering joy in self-expression.

We provide artist residencies in elementary and preschool classrooms, with durations as short as eight weeks or up to the full school year. Residencies can be part of the school day or offered as an after-school enrichment class.

Professional Development for Educators

Children’s Art Center provides professional development for classroom teachers and other educators to deepen their understanding of the value of process-oriented arts engagement and support them in expanding their teaching practice. Each 90-120 minute workshop includes hands-on activities and guided group conversations and can be hosted at the school site, in our Fort Mason art studio, or on Zoom.
