Summer Camp Descriptions

Young Artists’ Workshop
June 17-21 (no camp 6/19); July 15-19, August 5-9
Grades K&1

A special half-day camp for children entering Kindergarten and First Grade in the fall. Each afternoon, we’ll have time for both open-studio exploration and guided art activities designed especially for younger artists. Come for 1, 2, or 3 weeks! Different activities will be offered each session. 

Land, Sea & City
June 10-14, July 22-26, August 12-16
Grades 2-5

Land, Sea & City is a special art camp that combines creative time in the art studio with walking excursions in the Fort Mason area where we will draw, paint and create art inspired by our natural and built surroundings.  Come for 1, 2, or 3 weeks! Different activities and excursions will be offered each session. 

MAD Camp!
June 24-28
Grades 1-3

MAD stands for Music, Art & Drama! This multi-disciplinary camp features 2 hours each day with Fort Mason neighbors Young Performers’ Theatre, Blue Bear School of Music, and San Francisco Children’s Art Center. Registration will be through Blue Bear (link provided on our schedule). SFCAC discount policies and scholarships do not apply for MAD Camp. 

Drawing & Painting / Sculpture
July 8-12
Grades 2-5

In the mornings, connect your head, heart, and hands through drawing and painting. Through close examination of objects, we’ll learn how to see more deeply and capture what we observe. We’ll tap into our imaginations to draw and paint the things we wish to see in the world. In the afternoons, we’ll build 3-dimensional structures and settings using foamcore, wire, wood, paper and recycled materials.

Art & Science / Photo Explorers
July 29-August2
Grades 2-5

In the mornings, we’ll discover the art of photo mixed media with digital photography combined with drawing, painting, and collage. In the afternoons, we’ll explore the relationship between science and art while creating unique drawings, paintings, and sculptures.

Printmaking / Clay Time
August 19-26
Grades 2-5

In the mornings, create a variety of images and patterns with collographs, stencils, stamps, and block printing. In the afternoons,explore coil and slab construction to create hand-built clay creations.
