SFCAC’s Artists in Schools program nurtures creativity and curiosity in students through artistic choice-making and collaboration. Inspired by Reggio-Emilia methodology, social constructivist learning principles, and culturally responsive pedagogy, SFCAC professional teaching artists nurture students in developing skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, and creative self-expression.
SFCAC programs engage preschool and elementary school students in hands-on artmaking while encouraging reflection and expression of their creative process.
Artist residency durations can be as short as 8 weeks or up to the full school year.
Residencies can be part of the school day or offered as an after-school enrichment program.
School groups can also join us at our Fort Mason art studio for field trips with art-making workshop experiences facilitated by SFCAC teaching artists.
