Let Your Creativity Shine this Summer
This summer, make new friends and have fun creating, collaborating, and sharing in visual arts! It’s time again for our Big Kid Weekly Workshops, the Art Center’s summer workshop
series for children ages 5 ½ to 10. These workshops take place Monday-Friday afternoons for 3-4 hours with a new topic introduced each week. Build 3-D settings in Architectural Sculpture, learn to construct with clay in Clay Time, or become inspired by the natural environment in Art in the Garden.
Our collaboration with Young Performers Theatre continues! During the weeks of August 11-15 and 18-22, we’ll have a full-day/week option for older children ages 5 ½ to 10. Drop-in by the day or sign up for 1 or 2 weeks of performing and visual arts.
We’ll continue our once-a-week morning sessions of Side by Side, Just for Twos, and Art Studio 1-2 hour classes for children ages 22 months to 5 years old. Toddlers, two-year-olds, and pre-Ks will gain valuable artistic and developmental skills as they participate in a variety of exciting art projects in the studio each week. Some media, such as painting and playdough, remain constant week to week in order for children to gain mastery of materials and to explore new ideas. Other media like collage, drawing, printmaking, and sculpture vary each week. Every class ends with a snack and story.
Celebrating Creative Exploration Since 1978
The San Francisco Children’s Art Center is a non-profit studio art center whose mission is to nurture the developmental and artistic growth of children through creative expression and self-guided learning. By encouraging experimentation and discovery in a supportive environment, the Art Center is a place filled with possibilities, where children can collaborate, explore, and grow.
Unique Afterschool and Flexible Pre-K Options
Here at the Art Center, afterschool students experience the advantage of direct contact with professional artists, connections with students from different schools and backgrounds, and the wild oasis of our National Parks campus. Students are challenged by artistic techniques rarely offered in typical afterschool programs, such as digital photography or kiln-fired clay, while feeling the individual support and attention of a small class size. For toddlers and Pre-Ks, we offer daily morning and afternoon options to accommodate your other activities, naps and school schedules.
