Nancy Philpot, Treasurer
Nancy, a native of San Francisco, grew up in the Sunset District. Her experience in early childhood education comes from her five years as a preschool teacher, seven years as an administrator, and fifteen years as owner of a childcare center in Berkeley for children ages three months to six years. Nancy's schools embraced the Reggio Emilia approach to art and early childhood education as does the Art Center. Nancy, who joined the Board in 2004, would like to see the Art Center thrive and grow as a place where children experience art through a variety of media presented in a child-centered classroom where spirit, freedom, and creativity are encouraged and respected. She also wants to see the Art Center increase its role in providing this type of art education to children of need throughout San Francisco.
